How the Mind Works and How to Control It

Think about how you woke up today...

You probably rolled out of bed, brushed your teeth, and maybe slipped on your shoes. Did you put your left shoe on first or the right?

Chances are, you’ve been doing it the same way for years without even thinking about it. But have you ever stopped to question why?

That’s a small example of how most of us live our lives—on autopilot. We go through the same routines, follow the same habits, and never really question why we do what we do.

These patterns aren’t just about shoes. They’re about the way you think, the choices you make, and the way you live.

And at the heart of it all? Paradigms.

Mind vs. Paradigms

Most people don’t realize it, but they’re operating under the influence of paradigms. These are the subconscious beliefs and habits you’ve absorbed over time. And these are shaping every decision you make.

Paradigms are like invisible strings pulling you in one direction, often without you even realizing it.

For example, maybe you’ve always believed that you’re "just not good with money." Or that "relationships are hard work." These are paradigms.

They’re beliefs you’ve picked up from your past—maybe from your family, society, or personal experiences. And while some paradigms might help you (like believing you’re a hard worker), others hold you back.

The Power of Awareness

Here’s the first step to changing your life: awareness. You can’t change what you don’t acknowledge, right?

The moment you become aware of your paradigms is the moment you begin to take back control. This was a game-changer for me.

There was a time when I believed that success was out of my reach. I thought, "Some people are just born to win, and I’m not one of them."

That belief, that paradigm, was deeply ingrained in me, and it was affecting every part of my life—my business, my relationships, my health.

No matter how hard I worked, I always felt like it was just out of reach. But the problem wasn’t my effort—it was the belief, deep down, that success wasn’t for me.

That paradigm had been running my life, and I didn’t even realize it.

When I became aware of that limiting belief, everything shifted. I stopped seeing success as something external and began working on changing the internal beliefs that were holding me back.

And that’s when things began to change—my business grew, my relationships flourished, and my health improved—all because I shifted my mindset.

Steps to Control Your Mind

So how do you do it? How do you take control of your mind and shift these paradigms? It’s not as complicated as you might think. Here are some straightforward steps you can start using today:

Daily Affirmations

Every morning, speak positive statements about yourself and your life. Tell yourself, "I am capable of achieving my goals," or "I am in control of my thoughts."

Over time, these affirmations start to sink into your subconscious and rewire the way you think. And no, you're not "faking it"... You're training your mind to see new possibilities.

Visualization

Take a few minutes each day to imagine the life you want. Close your eyes and picture it clearly—where you are, who you’re with, how it feels.

The more you visualize it, the more your mind starts to believe it’s possible.

Self-Talk Reflection

Pay attention to how you talk to yourself throughout the day. Do you constantly doubt your abilities? Are you quick to criticize yourself?

Start noticing those moments, and when they happen, flip the script. Instead of saying, "I can’t do this," say, "I’m learning how to do this."

It may seem small, but changing your self-talk can make a huge difference.

Challenge Your Beliefs

Think about one belief you’ve held onto for years. Maybe it’s the belief that you're not good enough, or that success isn’t meant for you.

Now, ask yourself—is that belief serving you, or is it holding you back? If it’s the latter, it’s time to let it go.

Write down the limiting belief, then write a new one to replace it.

For example, if you’ve always believed “I’ll never be financially successful,” replace that with “I am learning to manage my finances and attract wealth.”

Your Challenge Today

Here’s something I want you to do today. I want you to work on that last point.

What’s the belief that’s been holding you back?

Write it down, and then challenge it. Is that belief serving you, or is it keeping you stuck?

If it’s the latter, it’s time to reprogram that paradigm.

You see, controlling your mind isn’t about forcing yourself to be positive all the time.

It’s about becoming aware of the subconscious beliefs driving your life and then choosing to change them.

When you take control of your paradigms, you take control of your life. And trust me, the transformation is worth it.
